Thomas has provided consulting assistance to large and mid-sized organizations for many years, and in 2009, he joined SCORE (Service Corps for Retired Executives), where he mentored small business owners and concept developers. As a SCORE counselor, he has mentored over 500 start-ups and established new small businesses, helping them to define proper structure for their business plan outline, and learn about proper business practices for their size and the issues small businesses face. The 11 years that Tom spent working at SCORE were integral to the need he identified to develop “how-to” books to help small and medium sized businesses. The result of this experience provided much of the information that enabled him to write his two of his very successful books 150 Lessons Learned from 50 Years in Consulting, and both the 2012 and 2018 books: You Can Do It; A Guide for Starting and Running a Small Business. After SCORE Thomas spent 9 years working in executive positions in the audiology business, where he recognized the need to develop a comprehensive book to help audiologists operate more effectively. He continues to be actively involved as a senior executive at an audiology clinic, and as a result, authored the book Operating a Successful Audiology Practice. These books are business reference books that focus on assisting people who need help to begin a business and the strategies to ensure that the business remains profitable in the long run.
Thomas has a bachelor’s degree from Lafayette College and a Masters of Business Administration from Columbia University. In addition to consulting, he has taught marketing and marketing research as an adjunct professor at American University, Sacred Heart University, and NYU Stern School of Business. He has also been a guest speaker at Harvard, Columbia, Cornell, and UCONN. His wide experience in consulting and education services would benefit any business person or manager seeking to start a business venture with the necessary business planning and strategies to succeed.
